This time of year is always a fun-filled, exciting, and bitter-sweet moment in the life of the graduating class. We have a number of high school graduates as well as a number of Eastern Hills members who earned college and post-graduate degrees. We are excited to celebrate this occasion with each graduate and their families. Please know our prayers are with you, and we are trusting God to use you to make His name known across the world.
This coming weekend we will have a couple of opportunities to celebrate with our high school graduates. Each graduating student will be preparing a table in the Reception Room with memorabilia and keepsakes for the church to view. We will be having a reception in the graduates’ honor on Sunday from 1:00-2:30. You are invited to come, enjoy cake, see all the tables, and offer encouraging words to each graduate.
In addition to the reception, we will be taking time during the service this Sunday morning to recognize, celebrate with, and encourage our graduating seniors. I am looking forward to this service as we bring to a culmination these students’ time in the Children’s and Student Ministry of Eastern Hills and send them out to college campuses and jobs on mission for the Kingdom of Christ.
I really love the encounter we read about in the Gospel of John, between Jesus and the woman at the well in Samaria. Jesus begins a conversation with the woman and asks her for a drink of water. After a brief conversation, Jesus makes this statement to the woman that is recorded for us in John 4:13-14. “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
This statement by Jesus is such a profound and impactful word. The water that Jesus gives will satisfy us for eternity. I pray that every one of us reading these words from Jesus will hold tightly to this truth. Only Jesus can satisfy. Congratulations graduates and God bless!!
