About

Our Story

Eastern Hills began as an outreach ministry of Capitol Heights Baptist Church in the late 1950s with a small group of people meeting in a tent. They met together on top of this same hill with a vision of reaching the Forest Hills community and then all Montgomery with a message of the love from their Lord — and ours.

The current sanctuary was built in the early 1960’s. The church had grown from a fledgling mission to one of the largest churches in Montgomery. As church membership grew, so did the church’s ministries and building space. In the 1970s and 1980s the Christian Life Center was built and the original sanctuary/fellowship hall was remodeled into needed educational space.

In the 1980s, Eastern Hills extended its outreach ministry. Recognizing a need for a church in another rapidly developing east Montgomery area, the church sponsored Taylor Road Baptist Mission. The Church also responded to the community’s need for Christian day care by adding a complete day care and a before and after school program.

Additions to the church’s physical plant continued into the 1990s and the Share the Vision capital campaign is seeing to current expansion needs while its numerous funded projects are underway today.

Throughout its history, Eastern Hills has been blessed with excellent leadership.  Rev. Dan Harrison is associate pastor of administration & to senior adults.  Sandy Harmann is the Interim Children’s Leader. Taylor Noah is the Interim student Leader, and Rev. Keith Pate is minister of music.
