Encouragement

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” ~Hebrews 10:24

Since I arrived at Eastern Hills almost eight months ago (can you believe it’s been eight months!) I have received a lot of encouragement from you all. Believe me when I say that encouragement is invaluable to a pastor. I appreciate it very much. I’m also aware that encouragement goes both ways. You, the members of Eastern Hills, need to be uplifted and spurred on in your good deeds as well, so I wanted to take a little time to do just that. Specifically, I want to encourage you in your efforts toward the Forest Hills neighborhood.

I want to tell you how proud I am to be a part of a church that is willing to reignite its love for the surrounding neighborhood. We have a long way to go, but I believe we are on the right path and we are making progress in ministering to the Forest Hills community. In the past months, the people of Eastern Hills have made contact with over 900 homes, have helped with home repair and maintenance, have begun planning for various neighborhood improvement projects, have aided in financial needs, have had in-home conversations, and have warmly welcomed residents into our church services. All this activity is just the tip of the iceberg. I know there is much more to come!

Each encounter you have with the people of Forest Hills is another opportunity to share the truth of the goodness of Christ. Your light in this community is brightening. You are not waiting for people to walk through the doors of our church. You are going to them, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU!

It is an honor to be your pastor. I am encouraged and I hope you are as well. Keep up the good work!

PASTOR JOSH
