Our Lives Are Not Our Own

We don’t live for ourselves only. And we don’t die for ourselves only. If we live, we live to honor the Lord. If we die, we die to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:8

This is a powerful verse and says a lot about our relationship with God. This summer we will be going through some of our basic beliefs about who we are in Christ, and our relationship with God.

Our first lesson is “What is our only hope in life and death?” Have you ever thought about that? Biblical hope is a forward looking faith. It is a confident belief, based not on things we have experienced but on the word of God that the future He has said will indeed happen. Hope is a future certainty that gives us joy, peace and patience today and every day until we die.

There is a very deep question that needs to be answered. Why do we exist and what’s the point of life. The answer is “We are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ.

That is an easy thing to say that we belong to God. I think we would all agree and say that we belong to God. It is a lot harder to truly live our lives like they belong to God. I think that most of us would say that WE ARE OUR OWN but we belong to God. Kind of like a cat. I may control the destiny of my cat. I may feed her and care for her, but I do not control her at all. She does her own thing when and how she wants.

If we truly live our lives as if we were not our own and that we belong 100% to God, our lives would reflect that in all ways. It is more than just being a good person. It is more than attending church when we can. It is more than reading our Bible now and again. It is 100% being sold out.

I once had a friend who said, “You know the big difference between you and me? You hear Gods voice and you do it. I hear His voice and say I will catch you later.” To be honest, I do not always obey Gods voice. I still often do my own thing. Thereis no need to go through areas that that we do not give over to God, we already know what they are. We know the areas God has convicted us. It is not a surprise. So what are the areas where you feel you have fallen short of being 100% sold out? What are the hard steps you need to do or stop doing in order to belong to God in body and soul, both life and death?

The goal of the Children’s Ministry is to teach families and children to Love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This summer we will be learning the deeper things of the Christian Faith. We will meet each Wednesday Night in Room 125.

VBS is June 6-10 and it is going to be one of the best VBS events we have ever done as we learn about different prophecies that lead up to Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, and resurrection.

In Sunday School, our children will continue to walk through the Bible chronologically.

Let’s not take a break from Church during the summer, but continue to help our children grow in their relationship with the Lord.
