Matthew 25:37-40, “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you’?” “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me.’”
This past Saturday was SERVE day at Eastern Hills. This passage was demonstrated in so many ways as we served our community. We had over 135 people helping to serve our community as we were sharing the Love of Christ. We did construction work for The Forest Park Ministry Center, and Reality and Truth Ministry for the homeless. We did construction work for the Reality and Truth Prison Ministry at the ‘Well House’. We sorted clothes and distributed them to several clothing distribution centers in our area. We prepared homeless mats, hygiene bags and food bags for the homeless in our area. We served some widows in our community and widows in our church family through ‘Beauty by Fire.’ We had crews that served our own Forest Hills neighborhood by cleaning out the storm drains and helping several disabled neighbors with weeding flower beds. We also had a crew that prepared a meal for ‘Mercy House’ ministry in West Montgomery. We had people for all ages working to share the Love of Christ. Thank you to all who participated and who gave donations so that this work could be done. It was a great success!
In just a few short weeks, we will have another opportunity to touch our community with the ‘Love of Christ.’ This will be our Fall Festival or as we are promoting it this year, our ‘Fall Carnival’. Hundreds of people from our neighborhood and beyond will come to our church on October 27 from 4 PM until 6 PM. We NEED your help to make this event successful. First, we need you to be here to support our church and to make our guests feel welcome. We also need you to encourage your Sunday School class or ministry to sign up to prepare a booth for the carnival. Please sign up or see Greg to ask about suggestions for a booth. This will be a fun evening and our booths will be sharing the Gospel with all those who participate. We need your help so call to sign up today.
We hope to see you this Sunday as we worship together as a church family!
